Kinds of Hearing loss:

There are 3 kinds of hearing loss

Conductive:

A conductive hearing loss is a type of hearing loss. It occurs when the ability of transmission of sound waves from the outer or middle ear to the inner ear is reduced or blocked.

Mixed:

It is a combination of conductive and sensorineural hearing loss. It indicates that there is damage in the outer, middle and inner part of the ear at the same time or damage auditory nerve.

Sensorineural:

Sensorineural hearing loss(SNHL) is a type of hearing the loss in which damage occurs to an individual’s inner ear (cochlea) or neural areas of the auditory system.

How to Restore Hearing Loss?

There are three ways to reverse hearing loss-

Coagulation of ear wax

Coagulation cause pain, dizziness, and feeling of fullness in the ear. Ear wax coagulation happens to everyone but sometimes while taking bath water gets inside the ear. This water causes the wax to swell and then lead to blockage. Due to this blockage people often felt deafness.

Clearing the ear wax one can reverse hearing loss. There are three ways to remove ear wax – Wax dissolving solution, manual removal by a doctor(using instruments like sucking device to pull wax out). And irrigation(squirting of water into the ear canal to break the wax and then empty the ear canal).

Undiagnosed allergies

There are many types of allergies such as cold, sinus headache or infections. These allergies swell the eustachian tube (channel responsible for ear pressure regulation) and build fluid in the ear space. This fluid cause a hearing problem. By cutting down on allergy attacks and management of chronic congestion can reverse hearing loss.

Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs)

High doses of NSAIDs drugs and Asprin can cause tinnitus. Tinnitus causes noise in the head without external sound often referred to as ringing in the ear. Some people are more sensitive to low doses, tinnitus symptoms vary from person to person.

Sometimes NSAIDs temporarily disable the outer hair of the ear which leads to sound damage. There are also many treatments for tinnitus relief. Tinnitus cures after stopping the medication. If tinnitus didn’t stop then consult your doctor. Permanent tinnitus is very rare.

Home remedies to Reverse hearing loss

Some researchers also support homemade treatments for reversing the Hearing Impairment. But before using these treatments you may have to ask or take a suggestion from your specialist. Consult a specialist and he/she will let you know which type of oil will be beneficial for you.

  • Ginger tea
  • Ginkgo biloba extract
  • Tea tree oil
  • Cajeput essential oil

Natural Remedies for Hearing Loss

  • Ginkgo biloba: People who are suffering from nerve diseases can take the herb, approx 60 mg three times a day. It increases cerebral and blood flow.
  • Acupuncture: Acupuncture is being used for the treatment of tinnitus or excess earwax. It is a method that can help in a sudden sensorineural hearing loss.
  • Complete diet:  Add rich antioxidants food in your diet like berries, kale, pumpkin, and squash which will improve your deafness.

Treatment for abnormals

There are some cases where your doctor might no able to medically restore your hearing because of abnormalities.

  • When your ear canal is abnormally narrow.
  • Abnormal growth of bone in the middle ear near stapes bones.
  • Separation of bones in the middle ear abnormally or ossicular chain discontinuity.
  • Abnormal thickening of the bone surrounding the ear canal.

A solution for the above problems

  • A traditional way of hearing aid.
  • BAHAs.
  • Bone conduction implantable devices.
  • Implantation in the middle ear.

Surgery for hearing loss

While any operation can cause anxiety, some people with hearing loss would be willing to go under the knife if they knew their hearing could be restored to normal.

The most common surgeries performed on the ears are:

Insertion of middle ear tubes – Hardly a surgery, this frequently-performed, outpatient procedure can be done right in your ENT’s (otolaryngologist) office. The middle ear, or pressure equalization (PE) tubes, are used to alleviate pressure buildup behind the eardrum in cases of middle ear infection or fluid that cannot drain through the Eustachian tubes.

Cochlear implants – A cochlear implant is a surgery for adults and, more commonly, children who have no, or very little, residual hearing. It works by bypassing a severely damaged cochlea to send electrical impulses to the hearing nerves that can be translated by the brain as meaningful sound.

Stapedectomy – Conductive hearing loss can result from the tiny bones of the middle ear becoming immobile and ineffective for transmitting sound to the inner ear. Otosclerosis is a common reason this can happen, and it results from extra bone .material forming around the footplate of the stapes, the innermost bone of the middle ear.
