For the hearing problem, we have used hearing aids. There are various design and styles available and also hearing aids available in various size. The acoustical output from a receiver in a BTE case reaches to the ears canal via a thin tube and a retention device. BTEs with a receiver in the ear canal, connected via wire to the rest of the electronic apparatus in the case. Every earmold is personally adjusted by the user. It is made to fit in the concha bowl of the ear. The earmold consists of a hole which helps in conducting the sound directly to the ear canal. The earmold has a vent that improves sound quality. The own voice comes from vent naturally.
The hollow tube that connects the hearing aid to the earmold helps to measure the audibility of the sound. You can connect this tube to the various types of sound measurement devices. The tube is inserted in the ear canal. The audiologist measures the sound levels in the ear canal while the hearing aid user utters some standard vowel (like “ee”). Then, with the tube still in place, an earmold (or hearing aid shell) is inserted in the ear canal, making sure that the tube extends a few millimeters past the earmold tip. Then, with the hearing aid turned off, the audiologist again measures the sound levels when the hearing aid user says the same vowel (at the same loudness level).
It is important that the earmold tube is of the right length and it is clean, unbroken and soft for hearing aid. If the tube is too short, you can feel an uncomfortable stretch on the earmold. If it is too long, it will be difficult to maintain hearing aid behind the ear. Your local hearing professional will ensure that your earmold fit your ears properly.
If you feel the quality of the aid has deteriorated, sound unclear, not as loud, etc, then you can decide for changing.
We would usually suggest that hearing aid tubing is changed in almost every 6 months. This should be carried out by a healthcare professional at your local audiology services provider.

The hearing aids generally consist of two parts: the hearing aid and the earmold. The hearing aid contains all of the electronic parts (i.e. the microphone, amplifier, receiver, battery compartment). It generally has an ear hook attached, which sits over the top of the ear and the hearing aid sits behind the ear. The earmold is a soft, silicone material that is custom made to fit the child’s ear. The earmold has a hollow tube that connects to the ear hook on the hearing aid and runs through the earmold. This tube allows the amplified sound from the hearing aid to enter the child’s ear.
Earmold is quite adjustable according to your need. Try to keep your earmold cleans. Rinse your earmolds with running warm water.
